It isn't a question of budget.
It's a question of cornea.
Which procedure suits you is decided by your scan, not by a price list. We match you with a clinic that will tell you if the answer is none of them.

What each one actually involves
Described, not ranked. Which one suits you is a clinical decision, and it belongs to the practitioner who examines you.
LASIK
A flap is lifted, the cornea reshaped, the flap replaced. Fast recovery, and the most widely performed.
SMILE
A small lenticule removed through a keyhole incision, with no flap. Often discussed for people prone to dry eye.
LASEK and PRK
Surface treatments with no flap, used when corneas are thin. Slower and less comfortable to recover from, with comparable outcomes.
Lens surgery and ICL
Replacing or supplementing the eye's own lens. The route when laser cannot correct the prescription, or past the age when reading changes.
What separates one clinic from another here
Take these with you. A practice that answers them without hesitating is telling you something a website never will.
- 01
The pre-operative assessment
“Does the assessment include corneal topography, and will you tell me plainly if I am not a candidate?”
- 02
The laser itself
“Which laser platform is it, and what year was it installed?”
- 03
Surgeon volume
“How many of these does the surgeon perform in a year?”
- 04
Enhancements
“Are enhancements included, and for how long after the procedure?”
- 05
Post-operative care
“How many follow-up appointments are included, and over how many months?”
What a search cannot do for you
We know who turns patients away
A clinic telling you that you are not a good candidate makes for terrible advertising. It is the first sign of a serious practice, and you cannot see it anywhere online.
We know who has room this week
Actual waiting times are written on no website. We ask, and we keep asking.
One form, not five
Searching means filling in five forms and being called by five call centres for six months. Here your details go to one clinic, and only once you say yes.
What Dana does at every step
A search ends at the click. This is the part that carries on afterwards.
Day 0, after the quiz
Your match is confirmed
Dana confirms the match, explains why this clinic, and sends the slot.
Day 0
Before you go in
A preparation sheet built from your answers: the questions worth asking in consultation.
Day 1
Consultation booked
If the clinic has not come back within 24 hours, Dana chases them, then looks again.
After the consultation
You receive a quote
Send it to Dana. You get told what is missing against what is normally quoted, and what usually gets billed on top.
Before the procedure
Scheduling and preparation
Reminders, a preparation checklist, and help with the insurance paperwork.
Day 1, 7 and 30
Recovery and check-ups
Dana checks in, and reminds you about the follow-up appointments.

Language
If the consultation did not happen in your language, Dana relays.

Second opinion
Ask, and we arrange one at another clinic in the network.
Dana handles logistics, preparation and follow-up. She gives no clinical advice, no diagnosis and no interpretation of results — every medical question goes to your clinic.
Where you stand today
This usually works well if…
- Your prescription has been stable for at least a year or two.
- You are tired of contact lenses, or can no longer tolerate them.
- Your work or sport makes glasses genuinely inconvenient.
- You want to know whether you are a candidate at all, before getting attached to the idea.
You’ll want a proper assessment first if…
- Your prescription is still changing, which usually means waiting rather than being ruled out.
- You have thin corneas or an irregular scan, which points to a different procedure rather than none.
- You have significant dry eye, which is treated first and changes which technique suits you.
What recovery actually looks like
LASIK and SMILE: most people see well the next day, with three or four days of care. Surface treatments take about a week of blurred, uncomfortable vision before it settles. Either way you need someone to drive you home.
How it went for other people
“The scan showed my corneas were too thin for the procedure I had asked for. They explained the alternative instead of pushing me through.”

What people ask us about this
How do I know if I am suitable?
Corneal thickness, prescription stability and dry eye decide it, and all three need measuring. A clinic that confirms suitability before scanning you is selling rather than assessing.
Is SMILE better than LASIK?
Neither is better in general. SMILE avoids a flap, LASIK corrects a wider range. Which suits you comes out of your scan.
What if I need a top-up later?
A small proportion of people do. Ask whether yours would be included, time-limited, or charged — and get the answer in writing.
Will I still need reading glasses?
Probably, from your mid-forties. Laser corrects distance vision; it does not stop the lens stiffening with age. Any clinic implying otherwise is glossing over it.
